Most Hero Medallions require nothing more than routine cleaning and occasional waxing.
If you own an older legacy medallion that has experienced many years of outdoor exposure and the protective finish has become noticeably worn, we encourage you to contact Hero Medallions before attempting any refinishing.
In some situations, applying a new automotive-grade clear protective coating may be appropriate. However, refinishing should be considered a last-resort restoration option—not routine maintenance.
If refinishing is performed, carefully mask the surrounding granite or monument surface to prevent overspray.
We are aware that some owners have successfully restored older bronze memorial products using various automotive clear coatings and ceramic restoration products. Because product formulations and application techniques vary, Hero Medallions has not completed long-term testing of these products and therefore cannot recommend or endorse any specific refinishing product at this time.
